Albany's only furry house
The original furry social club
Located in Albany's Ninth Ward, El Furado provides a safe space where furries can find sanctuary, emergency assistance, good folks to befriend, and knowledge that will help improve their lives.
We believe strongly in mutual aid, ask those who participate in our community to pitch in where they can, and hope our guests will carry our ethos into their daily lives.
El Furado is a Queer, neurodivergent, furry, and therian operated facility that will always be a safe place for all genders, sexes, and identities.
To protect members of our community, El Furado is an adults-only, 21+ zone. Individuals aged 18-20 may be admitted on an individual basis.
El Furado provides services for the local furry community, including:

We do not see this sort of help as a donation, but as your investment and stake in our community.
We accept donations though Ko-Fi, but we prefer donations to come in the form of physical goods.
If you would like to donate physical goods, please email [email protected] to coordinate.
Currently, we are accepting the following:
Plant-based foods
(produce, faux meats, grains, plant milks, pasta, etc.)
Unwanted electronics in working/near working order
(old phones, laptops, consoles, etc.)
Gifts for Mochi!
He likes small squeaky things and soft treats.
Gift cards for essentials
(Grocery, health, CDTA, etc.)
Gender-affirming gear
(clothing, binders, packers, makeup, purses, etc.)
Books! We accept queer/woman/BIPOC and furry literature, comics, fanzines, novels, DIY manuals, philosophy, poetry, and educational texts.
Your art! Feel free to draw us something!
We will always love art inspired by our community.
According to most sources, a furry house is a type of slan shack, a term coined by sci-fi nerds to refer to a residence that is open to all or most members of a niche fandom.
In the case of a furry house, the fandom being served is the furry fandom.
In other words, a furry house is a home that furries can treat like a community center, hostel, sanctuary, playspace, and home away from home.
It is important to remember that furry houses like El Furado are the homes of the furries who live there full time.
Respect of these spaces is required for these spaces to exist.
Please treat furry houses as if they were your home.
While we are easy to find with a simple search on Google Maps, we do not generally post our address in other places.
See if you can find us!
That depends on what you donated! If you've given us money, we will use that to purchase essential supplies for the home's residents and guests. Gift cards we're given will be used for the same purposes.
If you've donated electronics, your donation will either be given a purpose at El Furado, or be refurbished by us and then sold to raise funds.
Food given to us will be eaten as part of group meals.
Books given to us will be stocked on our shelves for use by anyone who wishes to read them.
Gender-affirming gear and clothing will be directed to someone in need within our local community.
Art made for us will be displayed prominently at El Furado as well as on this website, and will be bragged about online.
We're a group of community-minded furries that have been brought together by an old fox who waves the banner of community from every hill he can manage to climb.
We are young, old, of many races and backgrounds, and hail from all over the world. We are a bunch of mostly neuro-divergent folks who want the world to be a more safe, friendly, understanding, and kind place.
Participation in our community is contingent upon our members agreeing to abide by a set of guidelines.
You can view those guidelines in a document below.
Apart from our guidelines, there are behaviors and people that we simply do not allow to infiltrate our community.
Racists
Sexists
Queerphobia
of any type
Animal Abusers
Constant
Negativity
Sexual
Predators
Coercion
Bullying
Fascist
Bootlickers

Aggression
All of the above is absolutely, without exception, prohibited from events, productions, chats, and any online or physical venues operated by El Furado.
Most Importantly - El Furado is also a home! Disrespecting our residents, our living space, our landlords, or our neighborhood is a great way to earn a ban!
Really though, we do have a number of regular haunts that have attracted and continue to attract us.
Knowing a little bit about where we go ought to help anyone understand what kind of fun we get up to.
We encourage you to check out these places, as they each provide something special and wonderful.
